City Fleet delivers new solution for Veolia
Waste management giant Veolia has partnered with City Fleet to develop a handful of hook lift trucks, to be specifically used on mining sites. Based on the Sitrak T5G 8x4 chassis, the new machines are equipped with some unique features.
Among them is an extended chassis and wheelbase, with the latter lengthened by six metres to enable the hook lift body to be placed correctly. Developed as a twin-steer truck, they’ve been fitted with rollover protection to meet safety requirements.
Each vehicle is equipped with an MC07 246kW powertrain, paired to a 6-speed Allison transmission. The comfortable cabin features an integrated multimedia display and digital instrument cluster.
That aside, the T5G features SItrak’s MCY13 single-stage drive axle, a 1000kPa of working brake pressure, trailer brake ABS, and 3-leaf parabolic front suspension. Eight air bags from Hendrickson work at the rear.
Diff and cross locks are installed for when the going gets tough. It’s also fully ADR compliant. Seating comes in the form of heated and cooled ISRI units. Safety tech includes Sitrak’s own telematics system.
Autonomous emergency braking and anti-rollover capability. You’ll find hill-start assist, cruise control and active collision avoidance as standard. A WABCO radar and quadrangle camera are also included.
As an added bonus, the T5G comes loaded with alloy rims, air tank, fuel tank and air suspension all helping to reduce tare weight. It’s the ideal rig for Veolia and their hook lift trucks, which are able to remove large waste volumes.
Designed for sites where there are no access issues, hook bins range in size from 10 to 35 cubic metres. The truck loads and unloads the heavy-duty bins with a hydraulic hook operated by the driver (in this case from either front seat).
