Patterson Cheney Trucks, a long-standing Isuzu dealer, has expanded its presence in Melbourne’s southeast by launching a state-of-the-art truck sales, service, and parts centre in Pakenham, Victoria. This new site complements their existing heavy vehicle dealership and service centre in Keysborough.

Patterson Cheney has been closely associated with Isuzu Trucks since the early 1970s, marking the beginning of Isuzu’s sales journey in Australia. The family-run business has contributed to the brand’s impressive 36-year leadership in the Australian market.

The new 12,000-square-metre facility coincides with Isuzu’s release of an updated model range for 2025.

The official opening ceremony featured Cardinia Shire Mayor Cr Jack Kowarzik, Brad Battin MP - Member for Berwick, and Adrian Harding, Dealer Principal of the Truck Group. Isuzu Australia Limited (IAL) executives also attended, celebrating this milestone as a significant win for Victorian customers.

“We consider Patterson Cheney an integral part of the Isuzu story in Australia,” said Ben Lasry, IAL Chief of Sales and Aftersales. “This new dealership is the result of years of careful planning, and we’re excited to witness its success. It’s an exciting time for Isuzu, our dealers, and our customers, and we’re confident that this new facility will contribute to the continued success of our shared business.”

John Elliot, General Manager of Patterson Cheney
John Elliot, General Manager of Patterson Cheney, shared that the group is thriving, in line with the growing market demand.

“The southeast of Melbourne is booming, and the timing for not just a new facility but also the evolution of our dealership is perfect,” he said. “Our long-standing relationship with Isuzu, which dates back to the mid-1970s, has been incredibly successful. This new facility in Pakenham will take things to the next level for both new and returning customers.”

He added, “The new facility looks fantastic and will be even more impressive when the latest models arrive. It’s a game changer, both in terms of dealership and product offerings.”

A Comprehensive Service Experience
The new Pakenham site offers Isuzu customers a complete experience, with sales, service, parts, and support all available under one roof. The facility features a large workshop with 12 truck bays, 26-metre service pits (including one with built-in play detector shaker plates), an inground roller brake tester, and a full-length overhead gantry crane.

Next to the workshop is a double wash bay with a drive-over and underbody truck washer. Genuine Isuzu parts and accessories are available across a spacious 260-square-metre warehouse, with a mezzanine level and a 60-square-metre parts showroom.

The new dealership also offers customers a touch of luxury with a dedicated service drop-off driveway and a fully appointed customer lounge.

The Pakenham branch is expected to employ an additional 45 staff across various roles in automotive, service, and parts, further contributing to the local economy.

A Commitment to Employment and Future Generations
“Patterson Cheney has always been dedicated to offering not just employment opportunities, but long-term career paths in the automotive industry,” said Mr Elliot. “At our Pakenham dealership, we’ll continue to offer these opportunities, while focusing on fostering the next generation of skilled professionals. With the right facility and a talented team, Patterson Cheney will continue to set high standards alongside the Isuzu brand.”
