Gold Coast transport refrigeration specialist Zepher has completed its third Sitrak truck fitted with all the equipment to tackle northern Queensland’s harshest temperatures.

The Sitrak T5G 8x4 configured and built by Zepher has a 14-pallet refrigerated fibreglass body with double-side doors.

Onboard is a VECTOR HE19 MULTI TEMP refrigeration system suitable for combating the harsh North Queensland climate while running a weekly Townsville to Mt Isa route.Sitrak truck with driver giving thumbs upZepher managing director Nick Phelan said that his company commissioned its third Sitrak based on the high performance of the first two.

He said the first trucks “have stood up to the test of time with ease, so now its time to expand with this winning combination.”

In January, Zepher completed a TG5 with a 14 pallet freezer while the previous September it finished its first Sitrak, a TG5 6x4 with a refrigerated body.

The latest truck is rated at 28,500kg GVM and is powered by a 6.8-litre MAN engine rated at 330hp/1250Nm driving through an Allison 3200P transmission.

It uses air suspension and comes with a seven-year or 800,000km warranty.

Zepher has fitted a refrigerated body with a Carrier Supra unit and added a Dhollandia slider tailgate (rated at 3000kg) and aluminium platform that includes a foot control with trolley stops and warning lights.

Mr Phelan said the new refrigerated body and the Sitrak truck combined to make the vehicle a “game changer” in the refrigerated transport industry.

“The package is the result of years of research and development which has been enhanced with the latest refrigeration technology from Carrier,” he said.

“It also has a very competitive price point that is backed up by City Fleet’s unbeatable after-sales program that includes 200 service agents and comprehensive maintenance program.

“It makes this refrigerated truck a one-stop solution to cold goods transport plus it has the backing of one team looking after the vehicle top to bottom.”City Fleet Sitrak CEO Wade Moran who partnered with Zephyr and its customer, said the truck’s package “unites a strong collaberation between industry leaders City Fleet Transport Maintenance, Zepher Transport Refrigeration and Carrier.”

“The premium combination is two-thirds the cost of the traditional offering in Australia. All complete and ready for delivery,” he said.

Zepher was established in 2005 to cater for transport refrigeration clients. It is independently owned and operated and uses fully qualified service technicians to service and repair refrigeration bodies.

It carries out unit installations for trucks, trailers and off-engine drive applications. The business is Australian Refrigeration Council certified and endorsed by Carrier Transicold.

Repairs are carried out on site or at one of Zepher’s three service centres at Brisbane,Gold Coast and Townsville.

The business offers new truck sales, service maintenance programs and  24/7 breakdown response.Sitrak refridgerated truckCity Fleet’s Wade Moran said Sitrak had grown to be the fifth-biggest selling truck-brand chassis in Australia in little more than 12 months.

It now has passed more than 400-plus sales, and clients include one fleet operator that has 150 Sitrak trucks.

Sitrak is a premium brand made by one of the largest heavy-duty truck makers, China National Heavy Duty Truck Group Corporation (Sinotruk), which started in 1956 and has been a pioneer in the heavy-duty truck industry.

Sinotruk in 2009 partnered with German truck-maker MAN to create Sitrak, enhancing the technical capabilities and quality standards of Sitrak vehicles and making them globally competitive and immediately on the shopping list of major transport businesses.
