Released in 1998 as part of ISUZU's popular FRR Series, the FRR-500 SWB entered the market as a versatile, medium-duty truck often used for freight, delivery, and light industrial applications. It has a short wheelbase providing excellent manouverability in urban settings, while maintaining sufficient payload space for use in longer haul regional applications. Becoming quickly well known for its durability, reliable engines, and adaptability, many units are still in use today, especially in secondary markets or for specialized roles.

This FRR500 has been customised with a ThermoKing refrigerated cargo unit and originally serviced the meat industry through wholesale supply transportation and factory to consumer delivery. Its secondary use has continued this purpose in a light commercial capacity, whilst maintaining proper authorised service of the refrigerated cargo unit by ThermoKing (April 2023) and meeting the strict licensing and certification standards defined by PrimeSafe (2022).

GENERAL OVERVIEW & SPECIFICATIONS

Body Configuration: Cab-over-engine (COE) design, allowing for a compact profile, excellent forward visibility and a smaller turning circle on a short wheel base chassis (3780mm) and standard rear wheel drivetrain.
Engine: Equipped with ISUZU's 6HH1N 6-cylinder 7.1Lt direct injection diesel engine, with around 185-200 hp. With approximately 500 Nm @ 1700 rpm of torque, it supports a good balance of power for medium loads and uphill performance.

Transmission: Manual ISUZU MBJ5J transmission; 5-speed synchromesh gearbox, providing robust and reliable gear shifting for varied terrains. Oil capacity 4.4 Lt and maximum geared speed 108 km/h.
Suspension: Hydraulic, double-acting, telescopic shock absorbers on front suspension, and semi-elliptical, alloy-steel tapered multi-leaf springs and fully wrapped eyes with greasable shackles, on both front and rear sets.
Brakes: Air over hydraulic, dual circuit, front two leading, rear dual two leading, with asbestos free lining material and mechanical park brake.
Exhaust & Air Intake: Horizontal exhaust muffler with vertical stack and air-controlled exhaust brake. Donaldson 11" two stage air cleaner with vertical intake stack and rain head.
Fuel: Single fuel tank, with ample 180 litres capacity, featuring Bosch 'AD' type fuel injection pump.
Radiator & Cooling: Corrugated fin radiator with fan shroud. Coolant capacity 23.3 litres. 6 blade plastic cooling fan 500mm diameter with thermatic clutch.

EXTERIOR CAB

Bumper bar with stepholes and footplate.
Halogen headlamps, hinged for easy bulb replacement.
Rear stop and tail lamps, with reversing beeper, and licence plate lamp with long leads for variable body mounting.
Park lamps and cab clearance lamps.
Tinted, laminated windshield; tinted, toughened side and rear glass.
West Coast type rear view mirrors. Convex mirror surface on passenger side.
Lift up front access panel for clutch and windscreen washer fluids, cab air filter screen. Engine and brake fluid check points at rear of cab.
External engine crank switch for when cab is lifted.

INTERIOR CAB

Fully trimmed interior with cloth seats, formed roof lining and overhead lockers.
Driver and passenger sun visors, pull out drink holder in centre fascia, folding centre seat back with lockable compartment and tray.
3-seater bench, with driver's section fitted with mechanical suspension, 3-way lumbar support, as well as adjustments for seat back recline, seat slide and weight control. Reclining passenger seat section with under-seat storage drawer. Model includes optional aircon feature.
Easy-entry grab handles on A-pillars.
DIN standard aperture in dashboard for CB-radio (not included).
Key operation with engine idle speed adjust.

Some exterior accumulation and minor facade markings show its usage over nearly 30 years of reliable refrigerated transport. However, exterior body work remains in excellent condition and would certainly make great use in a small to medium business enterprise with some minor detailing and panel rendering.
